A funny thing happened …
I received two very dissimilar, yet related emails today.
One was from from intrepid radio reporter Dave Dahl, formerly of WMBD, but now plying his skills elsewhere. It was a cartoon he came across and just had to share with me:

I about died laughing. It’s so true. Sometimes I think I need an intervention to drag me away from all my Internet related addictions. If it’s not my blog and all the other blogs on Blog Peoria, it’s Twitter. It’s Peoria.com. It’s Facebook. It’s Linkedin.
But it’s not really an addiction. I try new things because I’m convinced that the better the Internet gets at linking people together when they have common interests and goals, the better off we are. I was reading the Cluetrain Manifesto again today. The era of the mass media is coming to an end. Peoria communicate with each other now. Blogging is part of it, and that’s why I started The Blog Peoria Project. I wanted Peorians to be able to bypass the filters of the local and the national media. I wanted this to happen on a local network.
And the other email?

No. You are probably NOT going to need a box for your money. But you might be able to buy a tank of gas, or a round of drinks at Blogger Bash.
And getting paid for writing? It’s better than applause.
