Changes to the terms of service

Friday, July 10, 2009
By Billy Dennis

The difference is mostly clerical. The maximum upload space allowed any member blogger is 300 MB, and it’s been like that for some time. I changed the TOS, which previously set it at 25 MB. I added a line saying that the space can be increased for a fee. I haven’t determined that fee yet.

For those who have not read the TOS:

The Blog Peoria Project is a free service provided to residents of the greater Peoria, IL, area. By agreeing to the Terms of Service, you agree that:

You live in Peoria, IL., Peoria County of surrounding counties in Illinois.
You intend to use the site to operate a blog (an online journal or diary) or as a citizen journalism site.
You are a real human being, are not a ‘bot.
You are not a splogger.
You are not a Nazi, white supremacist or an agent of any Communist government or group.
You will not scrape other sites’ content.
You treat other members with simple courtesy, both on your site and theirs.
You will not demand that other bloggers change their content in any way to make it more to your liking.
You will cease leaving comments on other member bloggers’ sites immediately upon request.
You accept full responsibility for the content of your blog. You are the owner of the posts and are the editor.

In return, the owner and operator of this site agrees:

To let you blog about whatever you want.
To let you upload files no larger than 100,000 MB.
To give you 300 MB of upload space.
To give you MORE upload space for a fee.
To let you sell ads on your own site.
To not ban your visitors, unless a determination is made that it is necessary to prevent them from commenting on a blog they have been asked to to not comment at.
To let any member take their content, including uploaded posts and images, and move them to another hosting service.
To do my utmost to keep this site running properly.

You also agree that the owner and administrator on this blog can and just might change the terms of service as he sees fit.

Some rules:
  • Please try to stay on topic. I am not strict about this, but I will enforce it if the thread turns into an argument.
  • Please do not libel anyone. This is not the place to play out personal disputes.
  • Attack the position, not the person taking the position.
  • Try to use a "smiley" when joking, because irony doesn't come across well in print.
  • Comments about commenting policy are best made via email: peoriapundit AT gmail DOT com or via the Contact Page
  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT attempt to post if you have been banned from posting comments. If you successfully post a comment after you have been banned, I WILL notify your ISP that you have violated my terms of service, which probably violate the ISP's terms of service.
  • GET A GRAVATAR! Just go here, sign up with the email address you use when you make a comment, and upload a image. Need an image? Look here.

Today I am thankful for leftover oatmeal. Not just because it makes breakfast the next day so much simpler, but because it gives me a reason to feel creative and thrifty. So today I opened up two containers of oatmeal that were the leftovers from two different days. I put them in a pot and added

I am SO not into the 2012, End of the Mayan Calendar, boo-hoo-hoo, but this came across on the email group that I just joined. Som parts of this are just common sense and the rest comes from somebody who's been staring at the sun for too long: THE 2012 MANIFESTO HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE COMING

Last night I was super tired. Wednesday Night Dinner can be a lot of work and often when it's over I'll be dead-tired and really wound up. Sometimes, like last night, my legs will be aching and my body will just be worn out, but I'll be too wound up to go to sleep. It could make for a hard time goin

Today I made a superhero for medical terminology class. Today I am thankful for bananas. Those crazy yellow fruits are so versatile and yummy. I don't have a lot of time, so this will be somewhat impressionistic. Yay! Sweet Agatha came in the mail! Ooh...pretty envelope. Open...carefully. Hmm. Yeah, okay. But it's so pretty! I don't want to cut that up. But, what new images will appear when I do? Wow. That's emotionally h
  • Looking for the herd!
I have been on this interesting and very bewildering hunt for some time now.  It has been so elusive in fact that at times I feel like the old time African explorer or Indiana Jones possibly.  What I do not understand is how the focus of my search can be so incredibly elusive as it has been.  To
