Food drive and Coats for Kids during Santa Claus Parade

Peoria, IL – Mayor Jim Ardis has again partnered with the Salvation Army and Midwest Food Bank to organize a community-wide food drive and coat collection for kids.  The food drive and coat collection will take place on Friday, November 23rd during the 125th Annual Santa Claus Parade, which begins at 10:15 a.m. Volunteers from the Salvation Army, Midwest Food Bank and the Peoria County Hawks Semi-Pro Football Team will be walking with Mayor Ardis and elected officials at the front of the parade to collect the canned goods and coats.

The 125th Annual Santa Claus Parade, the longest running holiday parade in the country, will begin at the Central Fire Station on Monroe and Bryan Streets and travel along Main Street, Jefferson Avenue, Liberty Street and Adams Street, ending at the Peoria County Courthouse.

When you come downtown to enjoy the parade, please bring gently used coats for kids and canned goods to donate to those in need.
